Royal Caribbean has announced Legend of the Seas, the newest Icon Class ship!
Royal Caribbean is finally ready to unveil the name of its newest mega ship, the Legend of the Seas! If the name of the newest Icon Class ship sounds familiar, that is because Royal Caribbean has used it before. Back in 1995, Royal Caribbean debuted the first Legend of the Seas, a vision class ship. Being close to 4 times the size, and holding more than three times the passengers, the new Legend of the Seas is sure to bring all the fan favorites that Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas have brought to the table on the largest cruise ships in the world!
““On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond.””
What will make Legend Different From Icon and Star?
RCCL has not yet released many details about what differences we are going to be able to find aboard Legend of the Seas, but if the slight variations between Icon and Star, are any indication, we can expect some tweaks here and there. We are sure RCCL has taken all of the feedback and insights they have learned from their first two Icon Class ships to inform their design of Legend.
Beginning in July 2026, Legend of the Seas will launch 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, Spain, offering passengers the chance to explore stunning destinations in France, Italy, and Spain. The itinerary includes stops at ports rich in history and breathtaking scenery, promising an unforgettable European voyage.
Following the summer season, Legend of the Seas will make its way to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where it will begin offering Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades in November 2026. Travelers can choose between 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean sailings, with stops at sought-after destinations such as Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, Oranjestad (Aruba), Willemstad (Curaçao), and Falmouth (Jamaica).
Bookings for these highly anticipated sailings will open later this week, with Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members receiving exclusive early access before the official booking launch on Thursday, February 20.
With a mix of European charm and tropical paradise, Legend of the Seas is poised to offer travelers an unforgettable experience at sea. Stay tuned for more updates as Royal Caribbean prepares to welcome guests aboard this spectacular new voyage.
