Disney Cruise Line Debuts Their Newest Ship Name and Theme!
We were so excited to hear that Disney has unveiled the name of their newest ship, as well as it’s theme! The brand new ship in the line will be called the Disney Destiny and will be the sister ship to the fantastic Disney Wish and Disney Treasure! The Disney Wish already sails out of Port Canaveral and the Disney Treasure debuts in December. The theme of this Disney Ship will be “Heroes and Villains” - Imagineers are working hard to bring this amazing theme to life in both the public spaces and cabins on board.
In a press release, we heard from Sharon Siskie, Disney Cruise Line’s senior vice president that “The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. “As we continue to expand our fleet, the Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we offer even more ways for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”
Disney has already announced some of the exciting animation stories that you will be able to experience on the ship including themed spaces dedicated to Hercules, The Lion King, One hundred and One Dalmatians and more! Continuing a design element from other Disney ships, Minnie Mouse will have a dedicated filigree artwork - this time dressed with cape and in a hero’s pose - on the bow of the ship. Minnie is so excited to lead passengers on their epic new vacation! No news yet about the maiden voyage of the ship - though we hope to have an official announcement soon!
The ship has reached an exciting new milestone as the keel has been laid at Meyer Werft, the shipyard building the ship in Germany. The Disney Destiney is set to be delivered to Disney Cruise Line in 2025. We for cannot wait to sail with Minnie and friends on this heroic new voyage.
