A Review of Cabin 1900 on Freedom of the Seas

We recently had the pleasure of staying in Cabin 1900 aboard the Freedom of the Seas, and I must say it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Some folks refer to this small row of staterooms as “secret” staterooms and it is easy to see why. From the moment we stepped into the cabin, we were amazed at that awesome cabin window - which takes up the back wall. It is floor to ceiling and was the perfect way to watch the waves with our little ones as we sailed around. Read on down below to find out why we loved the cabin so much - and why we think it would be perfect for your next cruise! Don’t miss at the end how you can find and book this cabin on your next cruise on Freedom of the Seas!

The Cabin

This stateroom was simply so cool! We were blown away by the amount of space. Typically staterooms on cruise ships are definitely tiny (most less than 200 square feet), so this one felt huge in comparison. We have never stayed in a suite, but we imagine this is what that feels like. We brought our kiddos along and there was plenty enough room for them to spread out and play. There was a full size couch in the room that converted into a huge bed. Typically extra sleepers in a stateroom come in the form of pull down pullman beds or single small couches that fold down - not in 1900! Then entire couch folded down into a huge bed. Check out the photo below!

Ofcourse the star of the show is the huge picture window at the back of the room. If you have stayed in an ocean view stateroom before, you know that the windows are usually very small, or even just a porthole. This window is floor to ceiling and gives you awesome views from deck 12 - all the way down to the water - completely unobstructed. This was awesome as we were sailing to and from port. While I love a balcony, it was nice on this trip to opt for the window since we were with small kids. We did not have to worry about them coming in and out of the balcony door all cruise. We also did not have to worry about the heat or the wind on the balcony - a bonus for us this trip since the weather wasn’t the best.

One other cool feature about the window was the curtains. These actually closed, creating a really cool “nook” in front of the window. Because the window is actually slanted out from top to bottom, there was enough space to pull the chair into the “nook,” close the curtain, and feel like you have your very own private window! It was a very neat experience on a ship that was sailing at capacity!

The Bathroom & Storage

If you have ever sailed on a cruise ship before, you know that the bathrooms are typically tiny. Some exclusive suites and higher category staterooms have nice bathrooms (some even with tubs!), but we have never seen a bathroom this nice in a “normal” staterooms. There was the typical Royal Caribbean toilet we have seen before, but there was much more space than normal, including plenty of storage shelves and cabinets. The shower is unlike and cruise ship shower we have ever gotten to enjoy. It was large like a true shower you would see in a home or hotel room, not the tube shower we are all used to. It was cool because it even had a bench to sit and relax on - or to use as a shelf for toiletries or a stand to help with shaving. This shower was great with small children because it offered plenty of space to wash them off after pool or beach days.

There was also so much storage in this room. Even with 4 people and tons of extra baby stuff, we never felt cramped. There was the additional storage in the bathroom we mentioned, but also tons of storage in the main room. The TV and vanity area were surrounded by lots of cabinets, drawers. and shelving. Stateroom 1900 on Freedom of the Seas even had a walk in closet? How often do you see that on a cruise ship! We never have stayed in a room with that kind of luxury. We felt so spoiled.

The Location

The location of stateroom 1900 on Freedom of the Seas is definitely unique. There is a short hallway all the way up on the deck 12 were this cabin is located. The only of thing on the hallway is other cabins in this category - of which there are only 6 in total. This location makes it very private and secluded - the only people we ever saw in this hall way were the a few people staying in the other cabins and our stateroom attendant. Compare that with a normal cruise ship hallway and you are constantly dodging other people, kids, and carts the entire cruise.

This cabin is located aft so you are literally steps away from the kids clubs, splash pad, windjammer, and the sports courts. This makes cabin 1900 on Freedom of the Seas and absolutely amazing option if you are traveling with kiddos. Even though you are super close to all these great amenities, cabin 1900 always felt really quiet. Royal Caribbean definitely did a great job sound proofing this stateroom.

How Can You Book This Cabin

Have we convince you yet how awesome this cabin is? We sure hope so. When you are planning your next sailing on Freedom of the Seas, here’s how you can score this awesome stateroom! You want to look for stateroom category 3M for spacious ocean view. There are a few rooms in category 3M on deck 6, but the ones you want like 1900 are all on deck 12. There are only 6 staterooms like this on deck 12 - they are 1892, 1894, 1896, 1898, 1900, and 1902 - and they are all on Freedom of the Seas. Because these cabins are “secret” cabins the size of a suite for the price of an spacious ocean view, they can sell out quick!

To see if one of these staterooms is available on your next Freedom of the Seas cruise, select ocean view as the room category. Then choose that you want to pick your own room, not the guarantee option. Then choose spacious ocean view (if available) then aft, then deck 12. These usually will be cheaper than spacious panoramic ocean view, and ultra spacious ocean view rooms!
