What inspired you to create TJ's Destination Oshkosh?
TJ’s Destination Oshkosh was inspired by a deep love for the Oshkosh community and its unique charm. With roots in the area and a passion for sharing its story, the mission was to create a collection of experiences that showcase the very best of Oshkosh—its warmth, authenticity, and pride. The goal is to elevate Oshkosh’s lifestyle and tourism by offering spaces that feel like home while celebrating the Midwest’s hospitality and excellence.
Are there any unique themes or stories behind a property you want to share?
Each of our properties tells its own story, offering unique themes that set them apart. Here is information on a couple of them. For example, The Highland Farmhouse: Situated on a 5-acre functioning hobby farm, this property provides guests with an authentic farm-life experience. It's also home to "Sir Loin," the mascot of TJ’s Highland Steakhouse. The farmhouse combines rustic charm with modern amenities, making it ideal for family gatherings or retreats. On the other hand, The Goyke House is a fully remodeled home on the shoreline of Lake Winnebago offering guests a "step back in time." Historic photos and nostalgic lake-life décor are thoughtfully integrated throughout the house, allowing guests to feel the property's rich history during their stay.

What is the most challenging aspect of putting together these rentals? What about the most rewarding?
The most challenging aspect is balancing authenticity and modern expectations. Creating spaces that celebrate Oshkosh’s heritage while incorporating modern design, comfort, and amenities takes careful planning and attention to detail. The most rewarding part is seeing guests leave with a sense of connection—to the property, the community, and the memories they’ve made. Knowing that a stay at TJ’s Destination Oshkosh has brought joy and pride is the ultimate reward.
Do you have any special memories with guests that you would like to share?
We are just thrilled when our guests come back. We have had quite a few guests that have made our home, theirs, during the time in Oshkosh. We have a group from Hawaii that come every year to visit their son at Marion College. All these guests start becoming like family, and we love to have them back!
Are there any unique amenities you are proud of?
We pride ourselves on having safe secure locations. We have complementary WIFI, we also provide guests with LP for the grills and wood for our firepits. We do offer concierge services and have gone as far as laundering items for guests. We try to be as helpful as possible since we know the struggles of traveling very well and want to elevate that stress for our guests.
What kind of experiences do you want guests to walk away with after staying at TJ's Destination Oshkosh?
We want guests to leave with a sense of belonging and connection to Oshkosh. Whether it’s a serene lakeside morning, a cozy evening with friends, or an adventure into the local culture, the experience should feel personal and memorable. Ultimately, the goal is for every guest to walk away thinking, “This was the best of Oshkosh.”
Do you have any plans for the future? Any new listings coming soon?
Absolutely! We are always looking for new ways to celebrate Oshkosh’s rich heritage and elevate its lifestyle offerings. Two exciting projects are currently underway: First, we’re thrilled to announce Lakeview, a new rental property located right on the shores of Lake Winnebago. This home will feature a charming fishing theme, paying homage to Oshkosh’s love for lake life. With direct access to the water, guests can enjoy fishing, boating, or simply relaxing by the lake. It’s designed to be both a serene retreat and an authentic reflection of the area's outdoor heritage, complete with modern comforts and thoughtful details that make every stay memorable. Additionally, one of our sister companies is embarking on one of our most ambitious projects yet: transforming the historic Oshkosh Daily Northwestern building into a stunning 1920s-inspired boutique hotel. This space will blend classic elegance with modern luxury, offering guests a timeless experience. The hotel will feature an Italian restaurant, curated to deliver an exceptional dining experience, as well as a variety of unique shops, including a flower shop, jeweler, coffee shop, tailor, and more. This project reflects our commitment to revitalizing Oshkosh’s downtown while celebrating its history and providing locals and visitors with a destination that’s both aspirational and accessible. Both projects align with our mission to showcase “The Best of Oshkosh” by creating spaces that bring people together, celebrate local culture, and offer elevated experiences. Whether it’s a cozy stay at Lakeview or an unforgettable visit to the boutique hotel, our goal is to ensure every guest feels connected to the warmth, authenticity, and pride of Oshkosh.
