Everything you need to know about Stateroom 13340 on the Norwegian Joy!

Have you ever had the chance to sail on the beautiful Norwegian Joy? We recently had the opportunity to sail on the Joy on an eight night trip to Bermuda and the Bahamas and it was fantastic! Bermuda is one of our favorite cruise destinations and we got to check our Norwegian's private island on this trip which was a first for us. One of my favorite things as planner to do pre-cruise is to find an interesting or unique room, and lucky for us, the Joy had one available when we booked our cruise. The Norwegian Joy has several family balcony staterooms, that actually have an extended, wedge-shaped, balcony that is about 50% larger than a normal balcony. Read on down below to see what else stateroom 13340 offers, and to see pictures of the special balcony!

The Room

The stateroom is set up very similar to the other family stateroom categories. There is a bathroom/shower combo, a queen size bed, a couch that turns into a bed, and a pull down berth. The stateroom is 213 square feet and the balcony is another 58 square feet - over 50% larger than a regular balcony - for no extra cost! We found the room to be very comfortable and spacious, even with 4 people in the room. It was renovated well and had nice styling. There was a massive closet, but the placement was a little odd. It was right beside the bed, which sometimes made opening the further of the two sliding doors difficult. We definitely didn’t struggle to find storage and the USB charger options next to the bed were a nice touch.

If location is important to you, we found the location of this room to be pretty great. You are super close to aft bank of elevators so getting down to the action didn’t take long. The room is on the 13th floor which is very quiet. There aren’t any public services on the this floor (except the medical center!) so you won’t need to worry about overhearing noise from the pool deck or restaurants.

The Balcony

Definitely the coolest feature of stateroom 13340 was the extended balcony. The balcony extends to follow the curvature of the ship and is slanted so you have amazing views to the aft. This made coming into and leaving port really awesome to take in from the balcony. Though the balcony furniture was the standard furniture you will find across the Norwegian Joy, since one side of the balcony was deeper than the others, you could find some shade which made the balcony a bit more enjoyable when docked when we were missing that sea breeze!

Overall - we were very happy with stateroom 13340 and it’s special balcony. It helped solidify our first time on the Norwegian Joy as one of our favorite cruises!
